Connecting iTero Scanner to a Lab

Welcome to the simple guide for connecting your iTero Scanner to a Dental Lab.

To connect your iTero scanner to a lab, you must first contact an iTero representative and provide them with the laboratory’s iTero Serial Number. Our team at Oceanic Dental Lab can handle this for you, or you can contact them directly using the number and instructions below:

Call iTero Support:

    • Dial 1800 468 472.
    • Select Option 2 for iTero.
  • Provide Scanner Information:
    • Give the support team the scanner serial number. (See below for instructions to find this)
      • Mention Oceanic Dental in Bentley.

Alternatively, Forward an Email:

      • Send an email to iterosupportanz@aligntech.com.
      • In the subject line, write: “Add lab – [your iTero serial number] Oceanic Dental in Bentley”.

How to find your iTero Serial Number:
The serial number of your iTero scanner can be found by navigating to: System information > Base Serial Number

    Steps to Connect the Lab to Your iTero Scanner:
    1. Contact an iTero representative to request a connection to a lab. Provide them with the lab’s details.

    2. Refresh the System. Once you have contacted iTero and connected your chosen lab, you must refresh the system to ensure the lab is displayed. To do this, simply select Settings > Sync Configuration

     

    Sending an iTero Scan to a Lab

    The scanning and sending process involves the following steps, all of which can be found in the iTero toolbar. Ensure that each step is completed before sending a scan to the lab.

    • Fill in the Prescription (Rx)
    • Scan the Patient
    • View the Scan
    • Send the Scan

     

    To Send the Scan:

    Steps to Connect the Lab to Your iTero Scanner:
    1. Tap the Email Icon:

    • Include screenshots of the scanned model if relevant.
    • Note: For Fixed Restorative and Denture/Removable procedures, some Rx fields become mandatory after scanning. If any mandatory fields are missing, a message will prompt you to fill them in.

    2. Send Confirmation:

    • A confirmation window will be displayed.

    3. Sign the Order:

    • Sign the signature area to authorise the order.
    • Optionally, select the “Save Signature” checkbox for future scans.

    4. Patient Consent:

    • Ensure the patient has consented to have their data processed and sent.
    • Select the consent checkbox.

    5. Confirm and Send:

    • Tap “Confirm & Send” to send the scan.

    A notification will confirm the model is being sent. The patient’s profile page will show the order status.

    Method for Sending an iTero Scan to Another Lab

    Important Note:
    As of now, iTero does not support direct lab-to-lab case sending within its platform. However, you can still share an iTero scan to our lab by following these steps:

    1. Log in to MyiTero:

    2. Access the Patient File:

      • On the homepage, click on the Patients Tab.

      • Search for the patient’s file by entering their name or relevant details.

    3. Select the Patient:

      • Find and click on the patient’s name from the search results.

    4. Locate the Latest Scan:

      • Identify and select the most recent scan of the patient that you want to send.

      • A dropdown menu will appear with additional options.

    5. Export the Scan:

      • Click on the Export button.

    6. Choose the File Type:

      • In the new window that appears, select STL as the file format for export.

    7. Download and Send:

      • Download the STL file to your computer.

      • Attach the downloaded STL file to an email and send it to us at info@oceanicdental.au
